From the Waynesville Daily Guide, 1/28/09:
Birthright Emergency Pregnancy Center in Waynesville was one of several emergency pregnancy centers across the state to participate in “Missouri’s Biggest Baby Shower.”
The event brought Spirit FM and the centers together to raise supplies and pregnancy awareness.
Birthright, a non-profit organization, has been serving the Pulaski County area for more than 23 years. The pregnancy center offers vital assistance to young women who are pregnant and will have trouble supporting themselves and their future child.
“Birthright will never refer or recommend an abortion,” Hazel Griffin, Waynesville Birthright director, said in a report handed out at the event Saturday…
The event lasted for seven hours Saturday, during which many local people and concerned citizens stopped by to donate baby supplies to the center.
Attendees also had the chance to talk with each other over refreshments provided at the pregnancy center.
The afternoon saw more donations. In addition to baby supplies, monetary donations were also made, which totaled about $255.
The funds will be used by the center to help local mothers in need with rent and utilities, Griffin said.
