In Missouri, Battle Over Abortion Continues on Roe v. Wade Anniversary

For the last eight years, local abortion opponent Ellie Dillon knew she had an ally in the White House.

Now, she believes she does not.

Dillon is a regional president for Missouri Right to Life. Today, she’s joining more than 1,000 abortion opponents from Missouri and tens of thousands from across the country who are in Washington for the annual March for Life. The march is to mark and lament the U.S. Supreme Court’s Roe v. Wade decision — 36 years ago today — that legalized most abortions.

Area abortion rights supporters will gather tonight at the Ethical Society of St. Louis, 9001 Clayton Road, where the Freedom of Choice Council will celebrate the ruling, which is seen as providing women with reproductive freedom and better health.
